Fieldstone Ventures Graduate
Red River College Graduate
I am 25 years old and I have recently completed school. I graduated from Fieldstone Ventures Education & Training Centre in Ashern, as a mature student in June of 2007, and I graduated from Red River College as a health care aide in October 2007.
Before I went back to school I was a proud stay at home mom of a beautiful 3 year old son, who is now four going on five. I was starting to look for a new job, but I found it very difficult because I didn't have my high school diploma. So after careful consideration I decided to visit Fieldstone after seeing an advertisement for it in the Around Town Newspaper. My first thought was I am too old to go back to high school. I needed something that suited my needs as an adult mother.
My first visit at Fieldstone was very good. Everyone was very nice and welcoming and they treated my as an adult. They made it very easy for my return to school, and I felt very comfortable.
I started in September of 2006, and as the school year went on I heard that they were offering the Red River College (RRC) dual credit Health Care Aide course, so I thought that I could do some research on this for an assignment that I was doing. At first I thought that this course was not what I was looking for, but my dream is to be a LPN or an RN. I did research in to those programs and found out that I would have to leave my home town in order to obtain this.
Of course I was scared but after talking with Shelley at Fieldstone I came to the decision that this would be a great starting point for me to fulfill my dream. So I got to work.
I needed to complete my studies before
the HCA course started this was February and the course was set to start at the end of the month of February. The course ended up being delayed and didnt start till April so I very happy.
After completing the HCA course I was working as an HCA in Ashern for some time and now I am the Community Health Representative in my home community of Lake Manitoba First Nation.
I am very happy with the success that I have had and if it had not have been for Fieldstone Adult Learning Centre making me feel so welcome and accepted I would not have done so well in my studies. Completing school has made my future look very strong and I hope to continue on.

I'm Crystal Anderson and I am a graduate and Board Member of Fieldstone Ventures in Ashern.
I am currently working as an Educational Assistant at Ashern Central High School. I am also enrolled in the Interlake Teachers Education program (ITEP). During my time with FSV I knew I wanted to become a teacher. They helped me to start up this new program.
I first looked into the BUNTEP program but it was not being offered through their facility anymore. It was then I looked into other options.
Fieldstone was a contributing factor for this program to get up and running. Fieldstone helped me achieve my goals. It is with their help and support that I am now attending Brandon University and doing it locally at the Ashern Elk's Hall.
I am a part-time student - I attend evening and weekend classes. I am glad that I decided to further my education through Fieldstone Ventures Adult Learning Centre.

Fieldstone Ventures was the ticket to my future...Fieldstone has given me the confidence to pursue my dream. This June twenty-eighth two thousand and five, I will be graduating with my grade twelve diploma.
The staff at Fieldstone are very supportive...always pushing and reminding us that we are smart and we can realize any dream we want to. Because Shelley realized her dream of putting together an Adult Learning Centre, many students like me will be able to realize their dreams.

Fieldstone Ventures has given me the opportunity to achieve my mature student diploma. They have also opened my eyes to what I want to do with my future. They helped me get the sponsors that I need to go to college after I leave here. The staff at Fieldstone Ventures are incredible. They are really helpful. They make you feel comfortable when you are there. They also work with you one-on-one if you need it. They explain things clearly to you.

I chose Fieldstone Ventures because I really wanted to finish school. Plus, I wanted my son to realize how important school means to me. Before I started school my future looked kind of dismal; after awhile it was almost as if I had something to look forward to even more.

I have learned so much attending school in Fieldstone Ventures. I owe it all to Fieldstone, for the steps I have taken to improve my life. I have always wanted to learn and to go back to school. One day I decided to really do something to be able to read, write and to communicate. I have learned to do math, to read and to use words more effectively. My future doesn't look so bleak now.

I am currently reading and writing communicationand I am also learning how to fill out forms and documents. I am also taking a keyboarding class.
Attending Fieldstone Ventures is a great feeling, knowing I am learning something new every day.
The teachers are really helpful, and the other students are really nice and mature. Everyone gets along so well at the school, and I should let you know this is my first time getting up in front of a group of people to give a talk about myself and how I am liking going to Fieldstone Ventures.
I want to tell you about my goal which is to become a hydro worker. In order to become a Manitoba Hydro worker, I need a grade 12 education and that's why I am attending Fieldstone Ventures and one more reason why I am attending Fieldstone Ventures is to have a better future for myself.
